John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Tracklisting[]

25 November 1989 (BFBS)

(JP: 'I'm still slightly disappointed with the new LP from Mudhoney: I mean, their early records sounded kind of...well, obviously they were grungy and so forth, which, you have the feeling when you listen to them, I wouldn't like these people to live next door to me, or even in the same village, as a matter of fact, but listening to the new LP, which doesn't seem to be called anything very much, or perhaps it's called Mudhoney, who can possibly say, but they do sound like the kind of people who could come round and have a cup of Earl Grey with you, and I don't think that's right at all.')
(JP: 'Definitely one of the LPs of the year.')
(JP: 'And now a chorus of "We hate Coventry City."') [1]

02 December 1989 (BFBS)

(JP: 'Hello again millions of fans, John Peel's Music On BFBS. Last week it was dysentery, this week it's Portuguese flu. Actually I'm not sure there's such a thing as Portuguese flu, but I like the sound of it. Don't like the feel of it very much. This is a new single from...')
(JP: 'The reason I've got a cold actually, not that you're particularly interested in this, but I had a haircut and cut off the ponytail that I'd affected. The main reason I cut it off in fact was because I thought that if I grew one, people wouldn't think, "Well, there's just another fat old man," they'd think, "There's an interesting fat old man," but it didn't work out like that at all, so I got rid of it.')
