Pencils.jpg

The Pencils were a UK power-pop band from Hertfordshire. Founded in 1980, the band comprised Den Pugsley, Tony Skeggs and Andy Welsford, all former members of Jetz, as well as keyboardist Rick Birmingham.

The Pencils released three singles, and recorded an album which was not released at the time except for an obscure - and unknown to the band - release on a German label. Following a series of mishaps, the band disbanded in July 1983.[1]

The band's "lost" album, as well as a slew of other tracks, was released as part of a two-disc anthology in 2012.[2]

Peel played a track from the group in 1982, but doesn't seem to play any other tracks on his shows.
