The Petticoats was the project of German punk musician Stef Petticoat (real name: Stefanie Heinrich), who was based in London in the late 70's and early 80's. She sang and played guitars, bass and drums on the Normal EP, released on her own Bla-Bla-Bla label. Stef began singing age 2 and played guitar and recorder as a youth before auditioning as a singer for several punk bands in the Aachen - Bonn - Cologne areas. After living in London in the first part of the eighties she returned to Germany in 1986.
Links to Peel[]
Peel first played the Petticoats in the summer of 1980 and impressed by her material, he invited her to do a session for his show in October 1980, where she performed three tracks. He also played her track, 'Life - No' from a various artists compilation album, 'Scaling Triangles' in 1981, as well as her collaboration with Robert Crash on his BFBS show in 1982.
In a 2014 interview with the singer on the Die Or DIY website, she mentioned that she loved listening to her old John Peel tapes. [1]
