Links to Peel[]
On his 05 March 1969 show, Peel played a Polish Wedding Song sung by the Polish Radio Folk Music Group from the BBC Archives on his Night Ride show, but it wasn't until the 80's, that the DJ started to significantly play Polish indie/alternative rock music, after a Polish DJ who he called Peter (possibly Piotr Kaczkowski, a well known Polish music DJ) visited Peel Acres and appeared on Peel's show on 12 April 1983 talking about and playing Polish records. Many polish records that were released through the Tonpress label, also got airplay on Peel's programmes in the late 80's. Some of the records that Tonpress sent him that Peel played, included artists such as TZN-Xenna, Madame, Made In Poland, Tilt, Siekiera and Armia. However, by the time the 90's arrived, Peel rarely played much music from Poland and he never had any Polish artists doing sessions for his programmes.
