Policecat were an indie rock band founded in Edinburgh, Scotland by brothers Jonathan and Gordon Kilgour, both on vocals and guitar, along with Katrina Dixon on drums. After their first gig they were joined by John Harrington on bass, issuing two EPs on Domino: 'Drown' in 1994 and 'Larry' in 1995. In 1997 they issued 'Automobile' (a split single alongside the Secret Goldfish) on Creeping Bent and they added Yvonne Slaven to the band on keyboards. After the release of 'Automobile' Dixon left the band and was replaced by Scott Hall, this new line up recorded a Peel Session, also in 1997, and released two more singles in 1998, 'Dark Holiday' (a split single with Appendix Out) on Creeping Bent and 'Give Us This Day' on Fantastic Records.
During the band's existence Gordon Kilgour and Yvonne Slaven also released music as The Mongers (along with Jem Anderton) and Jonathan Kilgour performed and recorded with The Pastels around the time of their 'Illumination' album.
Katrina Dixon subsequently performed and recorded with Sally Skull and later Tender Trap. Both Kilgour brothers were later members of The Zephyrs, Lunar Landing Module and Clipper, and Gordon Kilgour has released material as Electrical Appliance and as Gewgaws.
