Quasi (phonetics 'kwa - zee') is an American indie rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1993 by former spouses Sam Coomes (vocals, guitar, rocksichord, various keyboards, bass) and Janet Weiss (vocals and drums). Joanna Bolme performed and recorded with the group as a bassist from 2007 to 2011.

Links to Peel[]
At the end of August 1999, the BBC Radio One “Peel Night” special to mark Peel’s 60th birthday included a special session cover version of ‘I Only Have Eyes” for you by Quasi. Introducing the track, Jo Whiley suggested that Peel first heard the original by the Flamingos when he was living in Dallas in the early 1960s.
Including the one-off track, Quasi recorded four sessions for Peel across the turn of the century, although he apparently thought the last one in 2001 was their first for his show, until corrected by a listener. The DJ explained the memory lapse by claiming he only had enough brain cells left to remember his “name, rank and serial number.”
Both Sam Coomes and Janet Weiss also toured and recorded separately with other bands played by Peel, including Sleater-Kinney, Heatmiser and Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks.[1] [2]
