
Ranking Joe a.k.a. Little Joe (born Joseph Jackson, 1 July 1959, Kingston, Jamaica) is a reggae deejay who rose to prominence in the 1970s and had continuing success in the 1980s.
Jackson was initially inspired towards a musical career by his father, who operated a sound system.

Peel played tracks from the singer mainly between the 70's and 80's on his radio programmes. However, he did play a track in the 90's from Ranking Joe's alternative name of Little Joe on his radio programme. In 1998, Ranking Joe was invited to perform at Meltdown, which was curated by Peel himself.
