John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

Raw Noise

Raw Noise was a crust-punk band from Ipswich founded in 1983 and featured Dean Jones, the vocalist for Extreme Noise Terror. They initially released a 7 track demo "A Holocaust In Your Home" in September 1984. The group split in 1985, with Dean Jones forming Extreme Noise Terror, and many of Raw Noise's demo songs revamped and speeded up and appearing on Extreme Noise Terror's first album. At the end of the 80's, Raw Noise, was reformed and became more of Dean Jones' side project, when not busy with Extreme Noise Terror.

Links to Peel[]

Peel was first aware of Raw Noise via singer Dean Jones, who was involved in both Extreme Noise Terror, a band that the DJ often played on his programmes between the late 80's and early 90's. Impressed by Raw Noise's music, Peel invited the group to do a session for his show in 1991, where they performed five songs. After 1992, Peel seemed to have lost interest in the group and didn't play any of their songs from their 2000 album release, 'The Terror Continues', although he kept his interest in Extreme Noise Terror's material.
