John Peel Wiki

Changes to the look of John Peel Wiki will take place in the near future due to a new skin being rolled out over Oct/Nov across Wikia. Please see the Wikia Staff Blog for further details. On this site, the changes will affect the navigation from the left menu, as well as introduce a fixed page width with narrower content space. Please be patient while adjustments are made for the switch to the new system.

UPDATE: As the change is now in force for some users, I have switched the navigation to the simplified one for the new system. Please check Navigation in the Help section if you can't find things. I also initially made small adjustments to the front page layout, but have now reverted to the old look until all users are on the new system.

COUNTDOWN: Just a reminder for people still using Monaco that the final switch to the new skin is due on Nov. 3. After that, it will no longer be offered as an option. Sorry. Nothing to do with me.

In an interview with Louder Than War in 2017, guitar player Ben Harding described his biggest break was getting a Peel session with the band:

"The big break was the Peel session (Senseless Things’ first of three Peel Sessions was recorded in March 1988, produced by the late great Dale Griffin). That was when we thought, ‘Oh my God, this is actually for real’, you know? Everyone listened to the John Peel show, so all of a sudden you’re a known quantity. It got a lot easier to get gigs, there were more people at the gigs, and it just kinda snowballed from there. We pulled all those songs together, we worked with a fantastic producer, and it was just like, ‘yeah, here we go, this is it!’" [1]

In another interview with Gigwise also in 2017, drummer Cass Browne also said mentioned that the Peel session was his proudest achievement with the group:

"The moment we got invited to do our very first John Peel session has to be up there. I always thought that was the point where we became a real band. We were on the radar after that. Even today it has to rank as one of the biggest thrills if not greatest achievements of my life. Just to see our name on the cover of the old John Peel sessions vinyls. It felt like we’d become legit as a band." [2]
