Shelley's Children were an English indie rock band from Reading formed in the late 80's, consisting of Tracey Curtis (vocals), Coral (vocals), Greg (guitar), Neil (guitar), Martyn Oakland (bass) and Wig (drums). Imogen Gunner joined the group later on violin, and later Steph joined on vocals together with Coral.
They were originally called Whothehell, when they covered the Poni-Tails' Born Too Late for the Fuck The EMI various artists compilation album in 1989.
The band only released one mini album and a single during their lifetime, but did contribute tracks to various compilation albums.
After they split up in 1991 a couple of the band’s members formed Cuckooland.
Links to Peel[]
Peel played tracks from the group on his shows between 1990 and 1991. After the group split and some members formed Cuckooland, he would play their new material on his radio programmes between 1994 and 1997.
Cuckooland's track, 'Richard Jobson Dance' contained the lyrics of "He used to hear them on John Peel". (see Peel On Record)
