Hullo. On doing some research for Peel and motor racing I came across this page which bears a photo of a young Peel , without any kind of explanation - although I presume it must be because Peel did his miitary service at Ty Croes Army Training Camp which is now the Anglesey Circuit. I'd never seen the photo before - not sure if it's how Peel looked in his national service days ...!

Thanks for this. Yes, Peel did his National Service in Anglesey, Wales. I think I've seen a picture of that young Peel in the 1993 Channel 4 documentary Snapshots, where he talks about his holidays and national service in Wales.

This photo's reproduced in "Margrave of the Marshes", together with one of the army camp - in the photo section following page 84, in my hardback copy of the book.

During the 70's, Radio One used to have Fun Day outs for their DJ's. An example of that would have been at Brands Hatch, where they had races between each other. An example of this below from BBC Genome website, where Radio 1 used to broadcast their fun days at Brands Hatch.

Yes, I'm old enough to remember those myself (!) I was just curious about the 1973 picture however as it's not mentioned in Genome/RT .. Possibly not a 'broadcast' event? I've since found a mention of R1/Brands Hatch involvement in an earlier 1974 RM (which also mentions JP) implying that it's a 'new' thing... I'll put it up later.
