
The Jack Docherty Show was a Channel 5 late-night magazine and light entertainment chat show which aired on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom between 30 March 1997 and 23 June 1999. Presented by Absolutely star, Jack Docherty the programme was one of the first to air on the channel, doing so as part of its opening night schedule on 30 March 1997. The show was recorded at London's Whitehall Theatre from 1997 and then later, Studio 2 at The London Studios in 1998 until 1999 during the early evening and would then be broadcast in a late-night slot. It featured a light entertainment mixture of chat with celebrity guests, comedy, and music, and followed a similar format to variety shows such as NBC's Late Night with David Letterman in the United States. The programme lasted for two years and finally got taken off the air due to poor viewing figures and critics slamming it, including one from the The Independent calling the show as "working out it's notice". Peel appeared as a guest of the programme, first on 17th June 1998, where he was asked about JFK's assassination, Radio One Christmas parties, his recent OBE award and music festivals. He also was asked about football records and his Meltdown festival, which he curated. He later was joined with Norwegian weather presenter, Anne-Marie Foss, who was mainly interviewed about Norway and Scotland's draw in a football match, which Peel mentioned that there were some Liverpool football players in the Norwegian team.
The programme featured music from Silver Sun playing their new single, "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late".
Peel's second appearance on the programme was broadcast on 23rd February 1999 with Stuart Hall and the Delgados, who performed their "Pull The Wires From The Wall" track.
