The Unfinished Sympathy is an indie rock band from Barcelona, Spain. They started playing in January 2000 and in December the same year they recorded their first album, self-titled. In October 2001 they made their first European tour across France, Belgium and England, where they recorded the first Peel Session in the BBC studios for a Spanish band ever.
In 2002 they played with bands such as Bad Religion, Jimmy Eat World and Dover. Then, toured with Joshua and again, this time with Maple. And after those tours they entered the studio to record their second LP, called 'An Investment in Logistics' in December 2002.

THE UNFINISHED SYMPATHY - "Hello Mr. Peel" - Documentary 2021 - John Peel Sessions - BBC Studio
On his 21 June 2001 show, Peel mentioned how he first heard of Unfinished Sympathy. He explained that their CD was sent to him by Eric of the band via post. Peel took the CD with him to Barcelona for the Sonar Festival and when he arrived at Sonar, getting his ID sorted out, a man spotted him and said he had sent him a CD did he get it?, which JP then took the chance of asking him, 'Are you Eric?', which the gentleman responded yes. JP then on the show cheekily said that they became 'brand new friends, which their song, A Brand New Friend, was then played.
The band later did two sessions for the DJ and a Spanish language documentary of the band in how they got connected to John Peel was released on YouTube in 2021 called Hello Mr. Peel.
