Virgin Dance were a new wave quintet formed in Liverpool in late 1982, comprising Edwin Hind (vocals & guitar), Kenny Dougan (guitar), Lorraine Gardner (keyboards), Graham McMaster (bass) and Cliff Hewitt (drums, previously in Modern Eon). Led by vocalist Edwin Hind, the band released one album, Against the Tide (1985) and scored one indie hit, "Are You Ready (For That Feeling)?". Their only album, a collection of all previous singles and other tracks, was released in 1985 and effectively closed the band's career.
Links to Peel[]
As a Liverpool band, Peel seems to have picked up on Virgin Dance when featuring their session during the Radio 1's Liverpool Week in March 1983 (the group had previously recorded a session for Janice Long). He gave regular airplay to their debut single "Are You Ready (For That Feeling)?", although apparently less to the follow-up "No Disguise", a song which had featured in their session.
