Whitecats

Whitecats (sometimes known as the White Cats) were a UK punk band founded by Rat Scabies (Chris Millar) of The Damned in 1978. The group consisted of Eddie Cox - Guitar, Kelvin Blacklock - Vocals, Steve Turner - Bass and Rat Scabies (Chris Millar)  - Drums. Rat had left The Damned in October 1977 and straight away set out to form his own band. First attempts as Rat Scabies & The Runners and then Drunk & Disorderly were unsuccessful but by January 1978 he had formed The White Cats. From January to August 1978 The White Cats gigged and acquired management but no record deal. It became apparent that they were getting nowhere and in September 1978 Rat returned to The Damned.

The band got a feature in Sounds and two John Peel radio sessions. The first airing of the second session was on a show that also featured sessions by two other bands that also included former (and future) Damned members.
