The Woods Band was formed by married couple Gay & Terry Woods after their split with Steeleye Span. They recorded one album and toured, however, the rest of the band moved on to other projects and the couple continued under the name Gay & Terry Woods.
The couple divorced in 1980, with Gay forming Auto Da Fé and Terry retiring from the industry for 5 years before joining The Pogues.
Terry began recording and touring with Dave Browne in 2001, reviving the name The Woods Band. They released an album "Music from the Four Corners of Hell" in 2003.
Links to Peel[]
Peel was a fan of Steeleye Span in the 70's and kept interest in those who left the group and released their own materials. Gay and Terry Woods, who left Steeleye after the band's first album, did three sessions for Peel, and Terry Woods later joined The Pogues, although he did not appear on their two Peel sessions.
